Our focus is to sustainably grow, ferment, blend and bottle the best wines our planet can produce. To be sustainable from year to year, we need to fulfill nationwide demand for our wines without running afoul of the conditions that govern interstate wine sales. To insure a regulatory compliant sale, we have chosen to partner with “Northwest Wines to You”. This allows us to focus on what we do best.

It seems that one of the conditions of repealing the 18^th amendment to the United States Constitution (aka Prohibition) was ceding control of all alcohol commerce to the individual states. In so doing, the Congress of the day set in motion the legalization of many practices that were “de rigueur” during Prohibition. Of course, the Supreme Court had an opinion on the matter to boot.

The result is wine commerce that is governed by evolving rules of byzantine complexity, regulations, tariffs, fee’s, taxes, outright bizarre compliance requirements and labyrinthine politics that are unique to each state. What a workload this must create within each taxing authority. In the hi-tech world, we would have been kind in calling this a “legacy system.”

Currently, interstate wine commerce is sanctioned in 42 of our great 50 states.
